Elizabeth Najim, Operations Manager, Hill Aerospace Museum

M.A. History

"My Master’s in History (US History – US Air and Atomic Warfare from WWII to Cold War) from the University of Utah has significantly contributed to my success in the museum field. The program challenged me as a budding historian, taught me valuable analytical and writing skills, and offered a Public History Certificate which led me to curatorial internships at the National Air and Space Museum in Washington D.C. and the Hill Aerospace Museum in Roy, Utah. After graduation I worked as the Curator for the Syracuse Regional Museum in Syracuse, Utah for three years, in which I authored and published Images of America: Syracuse. In June 2023, I started working at the Hill Aerospace Museum as the Operations Manager. I am grateful for my time at the U and how it led me to where I am today."

"When I went back to school to get my M.A. I chose the History program at the U because I wanted to improve my research and writing skills. I also wanted a better understanding of the historical context surrounding the objects and artworks I worked with as a curator focusing on Utah and the American West. My classes and experiences at the U gave me exactly that! They honed my skills as a researcher, thinker, and writer. The publications and experience that came out of my time at the U directly lead to my appointment as Director of the Springville Museum of Art. I am grateful to my professors and classmates for their thoughtful feedback, guidance, and comments. What a gift to sit in a room with so many intelligent people and talk about history and ideas."
